PRESCHOOL

Long-lasting benefits

Research shows that providing your children with a positive preschool experience has beneficial long-term effects on their long-term education. Experts have found that children who attend high-quality preschool settings have better vocabularies and more advanced literacy and math skills than children who don’t.

We at My Sunflowers Day Nursery strive to provide the best possible environment, enhancing the children's learning, development and growth. A wide range of activities and resources are available to the children daily and focused activities to develop and further their interests and learning.

At approximately 3 years old children will move up to our pre-school room. In this room children will be encouraged to develop skills in line with the Early years Foundation Stage Curriculum. More information on this can be found here

Toddlers

Foundation for education

At approximately 2 years old children will move up to the toddler room. We as a setting have not set specific age groups to the rooms to allow the children to progress and develop at their own rate. This also allows us to be able to move the children up according to their individual development stage.

The children in this room are able to access freely activities they enjoy and have a wide range of individually planned activities by their key person. Each child is valued as an individual as well as part of a group and monitored by a key person.

In this room children are able to build upon their already learnt skills, progressing and developing further. While also being encouraged with their individual self help skills such as toileting, washing hands and personal independence.

Babies

Learning Experiences

Our baby room offers a small homely environment where children can feel safe and secure. This cosy room offers opportunities for children to play, learn and develop through playing and exploration.

In this room children will be assigned a key worker who will ensure all daily routines, needs and learning opportunities are provided. We offer lots of sensory play learning experiences and encourage the children to become independent with opportunities to self feed and personal hygiene as they assist with face and hand cleaning.

Staff plan appropriate activities with our baby group ensuring they are accessing a wide range of learning opportunities working with the Early Years Foundation stage guidelines.
